In the beginning, there was pain and aching...

12.12.2016

For the second time in two weeks I went running on the treadmill that my husband bought. I went for 20 minutes until some pain in my right knee forced me to stop. As a rule, whenever you have pain while exercising, it is advisable to stop immediately and seek medical attention. Especially if the pain or aching is anywhere in your head, neck or chest, get your ass to the hospital or get an ambulance quick.
Luckily for me the pain I have is localized in the right knee, is attributed to running, and I am capable of driving myself to the hospital. I did not go as the pain was enough to make me finish the treadmill, but not enough to warrant a visit to the hospital. I will take some pain meds and RICES for the day, and go again tomorrow. Part of the issue is that I haven't been working out regularly for the last almost two years, and this is part of the journey that I am undertaking in recovery and recuperation. If you'd like to join in the ride, I invite you to come along as I hopefully rediscover a love for running, rebuild the strength and endurance that I once had, and maybe I will lead you down a path towards a healthier lifestyle through diet and exercise.
